Opening Year Mass – Thursday 2nd October 2025
We were delighted to welcome so many members of our school community to our Opening Year Mass, held on Thursday 2nd October. It was a joyful and reflective occasion, bringing together pupils, staff, families, and friends to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year.
This year, we embraced the theme: “Friendship, Kindness and Community.” These three words are more than just ideas—they are the heart of what makes St. John’s a truly special place. Through our shared values and daily actions, we strive to build a school where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
Each of us has a role to play in shaping our school into a place of welcome and care. Whether it’s a smile in the corridor, a helping hand in the classroom, or a kind word to someone in need, small gestures can have a big impact. Together, we are creating a culture where friendship flourishes, kindness is second nature, and community spirit is strong.
Thank you to everyone who helped prepare today’s Mass - to Fr Loughran, Mrs McCarthy, Mr King, Mrs Power and the school choir and indeed all the boys and girls for the beautiful singing, for bringing up the gifts, for the fabulous readings and the impeccable behaviour. Thank you to everyone from the School community for taking time out to join with and help make our Mass special. May this year be filled with as our school motto says, “learning through love and laughter”.
