Advent 2025
Mr. King’s Advent Assembly – A Beautiful Start to the Season
This morning, our school gathered together for a very special assembly led by Mr. King to mark the beginning of Advent – the time when we prepare our hearts for the coming of Baby Jesus at Christmas.
Mr. King introduced us to our beautiful Advent Wreath, lovingly prepared by Mrs. Lavery. The wreath is a circle of evergreen branches, reminding us that God’s love never ends and is always fresh and alive. Around the wreath are five candles, each with its own special meaning:
• First Candle – Hope (Purple): This candle reminds us to hope in God’s promises. Just like the people in the Bible waited for Jesus, we wait with hope for Christmas.
• Second Candle – Peace (Purple): This candle helps us think about peace in our hearts and peace in the world. We can share peace by being kind and forgiving.
• Third Candle – Joy (Pink): This is the happiest candle! It reminds us to be joyful because Jesus is coming soon. Joy means finding happiness in loving God and others.
• Fourth Candle – Love (Purple): This candle reminds us of God’s great love for everyone. We can show love by helping others and being caring every day.
• Fifth Candle – Christ Candle (White): This candle is lit on Christmas Day. It reminds us that Jesus, the Light of the World, is finally here!
Mr. King encouraged us all to make extra special preparations during Advent – not just decorations and presents, but preparing our hearts with kindness, prayer, and good deeds.
A big thank you to Mr. King for leading such a thoughtful assembly, and to Michael, Lily, Eimíle, and Caleb for holding up the candles so beautifully.
Let’s all look forward to this wonderful season of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love as we get ready to celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus!
