Beautiful Butterflies

P3 and 4 had a delivery of baby caterpillars last month and have been waiting patiently for each chrysalis to complete metamorphosis in our classroom! Thankfully, we caught a couple of butterflies emerging from their cocoons on camera. All week, the children have been feeding them fruit and sugar water, until it was finally time to release them outdoors today. The butterflies were very happy to be held by little hands in the sunshine, before settling on a flower. This species of butterfly is called ‘Painted Lady.’ Look out for them around school over the next few days!
