Catholic Schools' Week
The theme of Catholic Schools’ Week this year is ‘Catholic Schools: Families of Faith’. To mark its beginning staff and pupils took part in a whole school assembly on Monday 29th January and engaged in various events and activities throughout the week.
We took time to think about how we are all part of many different families. We celebrated love in the family at home, the school family, the parish family and the universal family.
A number of staff, accompanied by several P7 pupils, were delighted to attend St. Peter’s Church, Lurgan on Thursday 1st February for the annual Catholic Schools’ Week Diocesan Mass. This special occasion was concelebrated by Bishop McAreavey and Priests of the Diocese.
The focus of Catholic Schools' Week on 'Family', ahead of the World Meeting of Families scheduled for August, allowed us to reflect, celebrate and to give thanks for our school family in St. John's.
‘No family drops down from heaven perfectly formed; families need constantly to grow and mature in the ability to love. … All of us are called to keep striving towards something greater than ourselves and our families, and every family must feel this constant impulse. Let us make this journey as families, let us keep walking together’. (Amoris Laetitia, 325)
