Cycling Proficiency Awards
The Cycling Proficiency Scheme is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and has been operating in Northern Ireland schools for 50 years, training more than 500,000 pupils.
We were delighted to be able to offer this scheme again this year thanks to Mrs McConville and Mr King.
This scheme is so important as it helps children develop their cycling skills, identify risks they may come across on the roads and increases their confidence as cyclists.
The scheme comprises both “Off-Road” and “On-Road” elements and teaches children who can already ride a bicycle, how to do so more safely. It covers what to wear, bicycle maintenance and the rules of the road. It also allows children to practice cycling manoeuvres in a safe environment.
Congratulations to all the children from Primary Six and Seven who worked extremely hard and recently completed their training. Everyone was presented with their certificates on Tuesday 21st June during our termly awards assembly.
