End of Year Mass 2025 – A Special Farewell!
Tuesday 17th June 2025 marked a very special and emotional occasion at St. John's Primary School as we gathered together for our End of Year Mass – a time of reflection, gratitude, and celebration for our entire school community.
This year’s Mass was particularly poignant for our Primary Seven pupils, who led us beautifully in prayer as they prepare to leave St. John’s and begin an exciting new chapter in their lives. With great maturity and reverence, they gave thanks for the friendships, memories, and learning they’ve experienced over the past seven years, while also looking ahead with hope and faith.
We extend our deepest thanks to Fr Loughran for celebrating such a meaningful and uplifting service. His words reminded us of the strength we draw from our faith and the importance of carrying that light forward into whatever lies ahead.
A special thank you to Miss McCarthy for preparing the children so thoughtfully and with such care for the Mass; to Mrs Power and Miss Lennon for guiding and supporting our school choir so wonderfully and to Ms P McAlinden for her beautiful musical accompaniment, which added so much to the atmosphere of the celebration. We are also grateful to all staff members who helped in any way to make the celebration so special.
This year's Mass was also a double celebration, as we marked the retirement of Mrs Maria McConville, a truly cherished member of our school community. After 30 years of dedicated service as a classroom assistant, Mrs McConville is preparing to step away from her role, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to the children and families of St. John’s.
Mrs McConville has touched the lives of countless pupils over the years with her gentle presence, warm heart, and quiet strength. Her dedication to our school has left an indelible mark, and she will be missed more than words can express. We thank her sincerely for all she has given to St. John’s and wish her a retirement filled with joy, good health, and well-earned rest.
As the school year draws to a close, we pray that God will watch over and guide all our pupils, especially our Primary 7 leavers, and bless Mrs McConville in the next chapter of her journey.
They will always remain a part of the St. John’s family.
