Grandparents’ Reading Project and Paired Reading Programme
10th Mar 2025
P1 to P4 pupils were thrilled to choose their books as the Grandparents’ Reading Project (P1-P3) and Paired Reading (P4) Programme began today! Over the next four weeks, they will take part in these long-running initiatives, which have shown the benefits of regular reading with your child.
We encourage all pupils to read with a parent, guardian or another adult at home at least three times per week. As part of the Paired Reading Programme, every P4 pupil will be paired with a 'reading buddy' from Miss McCarthy and Mr. McParland's classes. In school, the reading buddies will have the opportunity to read together twice a week for 15–20 minutes.
We hope everyone enjoys this special reading time in the coming weeks. Happy reading!
