Road to Riat STEM Challenge
15th Jan 2025
Today, P6/7 had an exciting and educational experience participating in the online STEM "Glider Challenge." The students explored the features of aerodynamics, learning about the four key forces involved in glider flight: lift, thrust, weight, and drag. Using their knowledge and experimenting with various wing shapes, they designed and built their own gliders.
Each team had the opportunity to test their creations, measuring flight distance, time, and speed. These tests provided valuable insights into what makes some gliders perform better than others, sparking curiosity and problem-solving discussions.
A huge thank you to the Smallpeice Trust and the Royal Air Force for organising such an engaging day filled with hands-on STEM activities. It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to innovate, collaborate, and learn!
